I don't know if it is because I had such a roller coaster week, but I'm exhausted. And just saying - I'm so proud to be a Mustang - Cross Country on their way to state, the Volleyball Team triumphant last night, and the football team playing tonight. We are a wonderful school with such successful kids! Super job everyone.
In Literature 9 we shared our illustrations for "Sweet Potato Pie". I explained that this particular activity demonstrates to me higher order thinking (the explanations you provided for your choices), knowledge of the story (the sequencing of your pictures), and finally some 21st century skills (using Creative Commons and Library of Congress). Super job everyone. Then we took our check over the story. A quick look at the vocabulary and then researching quotes from the story (those quotes gave us hints about time period) all accounted for a full class period. Complete the front side of the worksheet for Monday.
In English 10 we had a lot of students gone (again), but this time for football and cross country. We started by taking a look at our unit test. Everyone did so great! I was very proud of all of you. Then we wrote down the topic for our personal experience speech on a pink card (worth 5 points). Next on the agenda was a complements quiz, but we first took a few notes on the top to keep things straight. I had hoped we would have time to get started on our outline, but that wasn't the case. We'll work on that Monday.
In American Government we didn't have much of a class either because of the Cross Country send off. We had an opportunity to discuss current events though. It was quite the discussion. Everything from the protest in North Dakota to the impact of a closed Casey's (on other businesses, even The Stable). We didn't get many notes taken on Economics, but I'm learning to go with the flow better. (That's probably a lie!)
Have a great weekend everyone! Hug your family just a little tighter as you never know if that's the last time.
