January is over...January is over? I can't believe a month of 2017 is already behind us. It's absolutely crazy how fast time flies.
In Literature 9 we worked on our author's purpose workshop. This is such an important skill, and one that I take pretty seriously. It helps us determine the main idea, read for a purpose, and determine bias with information. We then took our reading check over Black Boy. Then we shared our Expand Our Vocabulary (SMART and with partners). We had a chance to share personal experiences and its connection to the story. Finally we dissected the anecdotes and their purposes. For tomorrow there is a video on-line about the six word memoir as well as an example. Everyone will use this to help creating their own.
In English 10 it was all about the product speeches. We did take a few minutes and review the video on Monroe Sequence and the sample ones posted on-line. I had a feeling there were several people who did not watch any of them. Topics are due tomorrow and there will be no deviating from them.
In American Literature we started by reviewing the next four words from the vocabulary lesson (Avoidance #5). Then we divided the biography of Abigail Adams into four chunks (pg. 92). Everyone then came together and determine what were the five most important facts. Then individuals met in a secondary group to see if their facts coincide with other tables (red desks met with other red desks). Then we came together as a class and noticed that everyone had pretty much the same facts. Then we discussed her famous letter "Remember the Ladies". Finally everyone took the check over the Frederick Douglass Mystery Box Worksheet (Moodle -15 questions). For Thursday, everyone is supposed to read Douglass' Narrative of a Slave and complete the worksheet.
In Law we had 50% of the class missing, so those still here worked on looking up the codes for burglary, robbery, and breaking and entering. We'll continue tomorrow when everyone returns.
Have a great Tuesday.
