Today was a busy day. It seemed like I ran from one thing to the next. I would love for just an hour where I can put my feet up and snooze. I guess no rest for the wicked!
In Literature 9 we discussed figurative language as seen through idioms. I really enjoyed the illustrations of the idioms students created. Their choices made me laugh! We then took a reading check over "The Hitchhiker". I'm sure they all did wonderfully. Theater of the Absurd was next on the agenda. Theater of the Absurd might as well be just called Theater of the Weird! We then tried to get to the vocabulary for "The Leader," but we'll have to pick that up tomorrow.
In English 10 we listened to speeches on how to make cupcakes and snicker salad, how to eat an Oreo, and how to have a proper batting swing. I really learned a lot. We also are working on parts of speech, focusing on prepositions. I know some students this comes easily, but for others it is a real struggle. Coming in for help is always a good idea.
In American Government we discussed the importance of the Preamble to the Constitution. It summarizes all the things our country basically believes in. They then demonstrated that they knew this first statement. Some might need to come in and try again, but most did very well. We then started to discuss why our Constitution has lasted so long - popular sovereignty and limited government. We'll get to the other tenets on Friday.
Hope you have a great Wednesday!
