Summer is definitely in the air. We see the sunshine, we feel the warmth, and our minds drift to those lazy days of summer. I have to admit that I have some strong spring fever this year. I just have to shake my body and refocus.
In Literature 9 we discussed the definition of courage. Atticus defines it for us through the relationship Jem has with Mrs. DuBose. Here was a "lady" (and I use the term lightly) who was a contradiction to everything Atticus believed, yet she is held up as a courageous lady. It's quite the conundrum. For Monday, please read both Chapters 12-13. Don't forget that vocabulary as we got close to having a quiz.
In English 10 we spent a lot of time on Friar Lawrence's soliloquy. We looked for the figurative language, the rhyme, and the meaning. We spent time paraphrasing it and then the message behind it. For Monday, don't forget to read for your 10 minutes.
In American Literature, it was all about "style". What is an author's style? We looked at the 13 elements of style (FLOW SAID, "RRR".) and applied them to various pieces of literature. It still is something we'll have to work on, but we're getting there. For Tuesday, be sure to have Chapter 3 of your novel read.
In Law, we reviewed the four elements of a tort, looked at negligence, causation, and injury. After the review, we took our quiz. It was too bad that we had a few not finish their review questions, but they came in later. We will be starting our murder mystery next week.
I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I hope to see my sister and parents as it's been awhile (since Christmas). That's always nice. Have a great weekend!
