It seemed like I was running on "fast forward" all day. We really got a lot accomplished in class today. All courses took a reading probe today. We'll finish up with the seniors tomorrow. We also tried to take a Google survey, but we really struggled finding it in our Google docs. We'll give it a go again tomorrow in Literature 9 and American Government.
In English 10 we discussed the differences between nonverbal/verbal communication; intrapersonal/interpersonal; and formal/information communication. It seems like there are a lot of subdivisions. I also gave notes on the seven characteristics of an effective speaker (SKOLVNG). See if you can remember what they are!
In American Literature we reviewed the method to post for the novel project. Remember you need to have the total number of pages read, a summary over those pages, and end with a reflection (what did you think). Then you will go to my novel and respond (remember try and keep a conversation going). On Thursday we will work on choosing a partner to follow. I realize that some people will not do this assignment, so you can "jump ship" if needed. We then watch a clip of the Lorax and identified universal themes found in Native American literature. On Thursday we will finish this up and move onto Puritan literature.
In Literature 9 it seems like we're finally moving forward. We discussed what we read (first and last letters, consonants) and the importance of prior knowledge. We've done a couple of puzzles to see the impact prior knowledge has. We're now starting to get into the literature. We're going to start with reading things about Abraham Lincoln - biography, essay, and an autobiography.
Auditions went amazing last night. We're going to have a follow-up tonight to get those in that need a little extra time. Hope to see you there!
