By missing yesterday for the Perseverance Project, it seems like I'm behind. I love going to places like Camp Foster, I hate the work that is waiting for me when I get home.
In Literature 9, we got back into our reading habit. Then we wrote our thoughts and feelings down about our experiences at Camp Foster. I think that, overall, most were excited and happy with the outcome. We then began to discuss mood and suspense. We managed to finally finish discussing "Cask of the Amontillado," and hopefully we can finish with "The Interlopers". Our test is still scheduled for Friday. For homework, everyone is supposed to read the biography of Saki and write down three important facts (on the back of the story detective). They are also supposed to complete the vocabulary for "The Interlopers".
In English 10 we finished our Vocal Personality notes. We will be moving on to our reading aloud project. We're going to take three to four pages (a minimum of two minutes) and read it as if it was an audiobook. We're going to practice marking our script and reading with vocal quality. For tomorrow, choose what you want to read.
In American Literature, we read for our allotted ten minutes. I shared my frustration with those that try to "get one over on me" with reading. It's your integrity that's called into question, not mine. If you want to "lie" about what you've read, it's your conscience, not mine. I then distributed their Puritan Legacy test. On the one hand, few failed; on the other hand, many that were used to receiving A's earned C's. We went through the test and discussed expectations versus performance. I will not be offering corrections. Suck it up and persevere. We then started to annotate "The War Prayer" by Mark Twain. Their assignment is to continue to annotate it - take notes, ask questions, circle unfamiliar words.
Have a great Tuesday everyone. The cold, along with the snow, is coming.
