Today started very early. My stupid dog woke me up at 4:30 AM, and today at the end of 8th period, I'm really feeling the exhaustion. The kids give me energy though.
In Literature 9 we worked on a vocabulary lesson for the short stories "The Sniper" and "The Leap". Then we discussed positive and negative characteristics. We made a list of five positives and three negative personality characteristics. We then started a "leap" list. What things would we like to do or learn to do that might be a "leap of faith".
In English 10 we reviewed subject/predicates, and then we introduced (reviewed) complements. We'll be focusing on complements for several weeks. Students turned in three possible persuasive topics. I read through them as quickly as I could and tried to steer them whether it would be a good topic for the 7-9 minutes this speech requires. They should be researching this weekend.
In American Government they got to hear me talk. Yeah them! We discussed how Congress, specifically the House of Representatives, is organized. We discussed whether Congress truly "represents" the demography of the United States. We also talked about how a state is assigned a certain number of districts. It is never an exciting day when the teacher talks for most of the class period.
Class meetings today to help organize for Homecoming. Next week is such a fun week, but it is also a very distracting week for learning. I hope everyone comes dressed in pajamas on Monday! Have a great weekend!
