I love the Olympics, and my husband and I find ourselves staying up to watch the various competitions. The only problem is that my butt is dragging the next day. I need a nap!
In Literature 9 we worked with the vocabulary for the story "Into Thin Air" (first five words). Then we monitored our comprehension by figuring out the who? what happened? and where it happened? For tomorrow, finish the worksheet that helps to outline the timing and the location of the various events.
In English 10 we discussed the No Red Ink data. Everyone should have the practice done by tomorrow! Then we started to share our "problems". We discussed how the problems can be proven using either logos or pathos. It was fun (for me) to play the devil's advocate for each speaker. You need to be able to identify the problem clearly and concisely. It was my job to show you that it isn't as easy as you think. For tomorrow, have the two sections PROBLEM and SOLUTION completed. Don't forget to finish No Red Ink.
American Government started with a really good current events discussion. We covered mostly the school shooting where I shared the posts from fellow teachers who were there. It's heart-wrenching. Then we took a check on Moodle for the court cases from last week. The key court case is Tinker vs. Des Moines. This case provided the Constitutional right for students to speak freely. I also distributed the study guide for the test on Friday. If you complete the study guide, you should do very well on the test.
In Law, we finished up our discussion of criminal behavior (duty, violation of duty, intent, and criminal liability - age and mental capability). We then looked at different scenarios related to criminal behavior. Finally, we took notes on the various classifications of criminal behavior. We shared our different articles (ironically, four of you chose the same one), and we didn't have much time to work on the criminal packet. For tomorrow, go to Google slides and do your two assigned vocabulary words.
Have a great day, and congratulations to the boys basketball team.
