If you're wondering where day #49 went, that was Friday. Since it technically is a compensation day, it counts as one of your 185 days.
In Literature 9 we had a few book talks, we took our second CBM, and then turned in our one-pagers. We're going to have a gallery walk tomorrow looking at the different illustrations. I distributed a vocabulary review and everyone is supposed to complete the front side. We want to see what we remember before we start studying.
In English 10 we took our second CBM and then had three vocabulary presentations. We will finish this lesson by Thursday (fingers crossed) and take our vocabulary test on Friday. We started to review for our Vocal Personality Quiz, but to be honest, we needed a few more minutes. Our quiz is tomorrow.
In American Government, we started with a current events discussion. Most of us were sickened by the attack on the Texas church. We also began to wonder why we don't hear of any mass shootings here in the Midwest. What seems to make us immune to this type of violence? I'm not wishing it on us by any means, but why don't we see this level of violence in Nebraska or here in Iowa? I'm so thankful my husband and I decided to move here 26 years ago. We then continued with our discussion of capitalism and government regulation (mixed market system). I am unabashedly proud to be a capitalist, so we will spend most of our time on the mixed market system. For Wednesday, watch the video on Moodle related to Communism.
Speech season is about to begin, and I'm excited! I'm also grieving the loss of going home at night and staying there. Onto a busy and hopefully, successful season!
