I swear the days are just flying by. At 1:00 PM I'm exhausted, but then classes come in and I'm rejuvenated. I really love this year's schedule.
In Literature 9 we finally finished "The Lady or the Tiger". We talked briefly about predictions and enjoyed watching America's Funniest Home Videos (dining room fails). We watched, paused, predicted, and then checked to see if our predictions were correct. Predicting is an important skill to develop. Then we looked over three of the vocabulary words for the story. Finally we began reading the story - wearing hats to represent Whitney, Rainsford, and the narrator. We stopped at the blue highlighted text, wrote the question down, predicted its outcome and continued to read. We'll have to see if our predictions were correct.
In English 10 we finished our vocabulary presentations. We will play a little Kahoot tomorrow and then take our test on Friday. We took quite a few notes today, discussing conversation beliefs, formal vs. informal communication. Soon we will be moving on to our first speech and video project.
In American Government we started with our current events conversation. We discussed the third party candidate, Colin Kapernick, the pipeline going through Iowa...we really covered a wide range of topics. Then each were divided into pairs - Hobbes/Locke. (Last week partners were chosen by drawing cards, those partners played rock-paper-scissors. The winner read the section on Thomas Hobbes, the loser John Locke. ) Today everyone shared their information by completed a graphic organizer. We will have a quiz on Friday over this material.
I feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things - play practices, papers to grade, grades to enter, etc. I hope I can keep all the objects in the air. I sometimes struggle with my juggling skills.
