This was the Monday of all Mondays. At 11:00 AM this morning I really wanted to shout "Monday wins", and then everyone could go home. But alas, no, we all stuck it out, and we survived.
In Literature 9 a "guest" butler arrived and asked the class to join him for cocktail hour in the auditorium lobby. There cocktails were served while students tried to put clues together to determine what had happened in a story entitled "The Sniper". After their fill of muffins, granola bars, oranges, and grapes, students shared their information, filled in a chart, and predicted the outcome of the story. They then received a copy of "The Sniper" and asked to underline/highlight the vocabulary words as they came upon them.
In English 10 we started right in on our Past, Present, and Future speeches. Everyone was showed how to use a Google form to provide audience feedback. We heard some amazing speeches, and I know that they will only get better.
In American Government we reviewed the various types of government. Then we played a little tic-tac-toe (I will concede it was kind of lame.) Then we traveled to the old commons to work on our tribes. Today we had to work on what type of government might work best with the situations presented. I'm curious to see what everyone has determined.
All in all, survival is the key today. I made it...barely, and knowing that tomorrow is another day makes it easier to handle all the tragedies that seemed to occur this weekend. My prayers go out to the families that are dealing with the struggles of life. May everyone find peace and comfort today.
