I know most won't agree with me, but I love a good thunderstorm. It reminds me of the majesty and power of Mother Nature.
In Literature 9 we summarized the evidence we collected from the prosecution. Mayella's testimony definitely has multiple meanings. I always enjoy the metaphor - a steady-eyed cat with a twitchy tail. We took a check over Chapter 18, and then in groups, we worked on our Trial worksheet. For tomorrow, have the vocabulary completed along with reading Chapter 19.
In English 10 we discussed the Fates and their impact on Romeo and Juliet's lives. We also reviewed the possible meanings of Lord Capulet's - "We are all born to die." Was he expressing worry over his own mortality? Was this an opportunity to marry her daughter up and restore the Capulet's reputation? Was he worried about who was going to take care of Juliet after he dies? Regardless, he had some reason for changing his mind and agreeing to Paris's proposal. We then took a reading check. I don't mean to be confusing in my questions. I'll look at a few of those and maybe override a few answers. We then began to read Scene 5. I had hoped to almost get it done, but alack, alack, we need more time. For tomorrow, complete the vocabulary for Act III.
In American Literature most of the class period was spent taking our reading checks over Chapters 5-6. We did have time to discuss George's motivation, Candy's anger, and the climax. Everyone worked on the CLOSE for Chapter 5 with a few adjustments to the questions/highlighting. For Thursday, complete Chapter 6 (instructions again were modified.) Also, don't forget to work on your American Dream assignment.
In Law, we finished up our discussion of possible defenses to intentional torts, defenses to negligence, and the lack of defense to strict liability. We then shared our court cases where we saw the defenses used. Some people mistakenly used a crime rather than a tort. Remember a tort is when someone is being sued and the defendant is using the defenses discussed. We will have a quiz tomorrow over tort defenses. Our test will be on Friday.
I hope everyone can enjoy a little of the day. I'm not sure when the ran is supposed to stop, but heaven knows the farmers need it. See you tomorrow!
