I know that in most of the classes we're doing o.k., but I still have this inexplicable need to hurry and rush through things. I'm trying to hold myself back, but there is the underlying beat of "hurry, hurry".
In Literature 9 we finished up our discussion of "Red Carnations". Then we discussed (reviewed) the importance of predictions. The rest of the class period (between 10-15 minutes) was given to read the short radio drama "The Hitchhiker." I think this will be a play they'll enjoy.
In English 10 we finished reading the Friar's monologue and identified the 30+ events he reviews. We then began to review the themes and messages behind Romeo and Juliet. Because we have the time, we're going to take an extra day and study. The test will be on Thursday.
In American Literature I reviewed what would be on the final: 60% poetry and the play, 20% the authors (author's chart), and 20% the movements and allusions. Then we discussed Act III of Our Town. The dead had a lot to share with us! We finally got to Robert Frost. Jesse and Breanna gave their presentations and then we had time to review "The Road Not Taken". In fourth hour we also review "Stopping in the Woods on a Snowy Evening." We should be able to finish up Frost and Sandburg on Thursday. We'll see about Friday and Monday.
In Law the Grand Jury met, and there was enough evidence to arrest Wes for the murder (manslaughter) of Miss White. We discovered that investigating a murder both on the forensics and law side is not as easy at it looks. There are lots of avenues and side streets that can side-step the actual investigation. All in all, we thought things went wonderfully.
Have a great Tuesday! And I'll see you tomorrow.
