Today I woke up with an abundance of energy. My mind seemed to focus, and I was raring to go. Then it was 8 o'clock in the morning, and it was over! :-( I'm just kidding. Hopefully with this burst of energy and clearness of mind, I can get a lot of things accomplished.
In Literature 9 we discussed malaproprism and how authors will make up words, use wrong words in places, and mispronounce words all for a humorous effect. We finished up our vocabulary and the Expand your Vocabulary. Then it was time for the reading check. We ended with making a storyboard for the short story. With a caption telling the viewers with the "trigger" was that prompted his daydream. Everyone was supposed to find to illustrations - one that would represent reality and the other to represent the day dream. I'm anxious to see what everyone's interpretation was.
In English 10 it's speeches again. We discuss the importance of vocal delivery - eye contact (look to the right side of the room), gestures (keep your hands off the podium), and grammar (our speaking grammar is atrocious!) Then we discussed preparation. It seems like many tried to "wing" things. It was clear in the details given that they just skirted the general elements of an event.
In American Literature we discussed first the schedule for the next week. There are eight days of classes and four will be American Government and four will be American Literature. Everyone should be focusing on the Mayflower Project during their study halls with Mr. Judge. Next week is the big presentations. Then we finished our notes on the Age of Reason, and we started our presentation on Ben Franklin. We watched a short bio and highlighted on the resume the information that overlapped. Then we played "What is a lie?" and I used it to present information about Ben's life. Everyone should read the autobiography of Ben Franklin (pg. 72-79) for Thursday. There are notes on the back of the resume to complete. There will be a reading check.
Enjoy this day as it seems, according to the weatherman, the last nice day we're going to have for awhile.
