I was here quite late last night, and I was doing all right energy wise until...7th hour. I hit my wall. I just can't do those midnight things anymore. I'm too old!
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of the exposition found in Chapter 1. We discussed the allusion "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." This is an important component because it gives us a reference for time - year (1933) and combine that with Dill came that summer, it's probably June of 1933. I've taught this book for so many years, and I never put all that together. We discussed the concept of an outsider, characterization, and finally the comments made about Boo Radley. We're ready to jump into the book now. Read Chapter 2 for tomorrow.
In English 10 we finished our discussion of the Prologue (iambic, pentameter, alliteration, and rhyme scheme). We will build on those skills as the play goes one. Since we didn't want to get into our sword fight at the end of the class period, we worked on a gerunds assignment. We will often have grammar homework rather than reading homework.
In American Literature we finished watching "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Then we took a check over "Adventures of a German Student." Since we really didn't have a lot of time to discuss the story, we simply took our check and I distributed either "Devil and Tom Walker" or "Devil and Daniel Webster" stories. Half the class will read one and the other half the other. We will then combine our knowledge and compare and contrast the two stories.
In Law we took notes over the elements of a crime. We discussed whether certain behavior is always criminal behavior. We will move onto our criminal packets tomorrow. This is always a disturbing unit, yet interesting. Does that make me a little criminal?
Have a great Thursday! Come to our Evening of Performance!
