OK, so stress over Saturday's competition is hitting me today, and I'm starting to panic. I know - deep breaths. I just want everyone to do their best, and sometimes I feel like I'm letting people down because I'm running from one thing to another! Again - deep breaths!
In Literature 9 we reviewed the "Expand Our Vocabulary Words". Then we discussed Cause and Effects. This structure is so common (popular) among literature whether it be for fiction or nonfiction. Then we introduced and worked with author's purpose. At the end of the day we thought that "Of Dry Goods and Black Bow Ties" was an informative, almost descriptive, essay of Mr. Shimada.
In English 10 we started with our Product Endorsement Speeches. Everyone had to vote a thumbs up or thumbs down on the product (no the speech, the product!). For homework, we are going to begin working on subject complements (predicate adjectives and predicate nominatives.)
In American Government much of the class period was spent on current events. We started the class period watching a short video on the Iowa Caucus. We discussed Sarah Palin's endorsement of Donald Trump, the suspension of Ben Carson's campaign. We went on to discuss a woman putting nine children in one car (three in the trunk), the water crisis in Flint, MI, and ISIS releasing 200+ prisoners. Then we started our discussion for formal amending of the Constitution.
In Law we continued with our discussion of Constitutional law. It's surprising how much it's overlapping with Government, and I can't say I've every had that before, but it's nice when it does. We did a few exercises on the Bill of Rights, and tomorrow we're going to have a quiz. Also we're going to have "Law in the News" tomorrow.
Still breathing! I know that this too shall pass and on Saturday all the speech kids are going to do wonderfully. They always do!
