Another week of school started. Fall is here - the weather is cooler, the forecast includes snow, and I'm looking for my winter jacket.
In Literature 9 we worked on some oral reading for Drill the Skill. Since we're going to be reading our plays aloud, these are some vital skills. We then worked on a few Drama Notes (the origins of theater and the characteristics of theater). A quick field trip to the stage helped us figure out how things are placed on a stage. It is an exciting time as the set for The Miracle Worker is up and looking very good.
In English 10 the students are excitedly working on promotionals for George-Little Rock High School. I'm anxious to see their use of propaganda techniques and vocal personality.
In American Government we learned about the Founding Fathers and the many compromises they made in order to adopt the Constitution. There were controversies between the populated and scarcely populated states, between the rural and urban areas, and between the North and South. Their ability to compromise and work through the tough issues is something we can all learn.
