I think I'm finally feeling well. I've bee struggling physically with feeling o.k. and today is the first day in quite awhile that I feel...good. It makes for a much better mood and frame of mind.
In English 10 (first hour) we took notes on our next speech assignment - the speech of introduction. We discussed situations when a speech of introduction may arise, the format for a speech of introduction, and the requirements for this assignment. Then the students took turns at the randomizer and selected a person from Time's Top 100 Influential People. Just like in real life, you may not know or even like the person you're going to introduce. This isn't like a tribute speech, this is simply establishing another speaker's ethos. The situation given was the 2015 GLR Graduation Exercises.
In American Government we continued our discussion of the Bill of Rights and court cases throughout the years. We had some good conversations about libel, slander, prior restraint, double jeopardy, and searches and seizures. Next week is the unit test, and I believe a lot of students truly enjoy discussing the rights and privileges guaranteed to us in the Constitution.
In Literature 9 we also are reviewing for a test. We've read six short stories that revolve around the idea of life and death decisions. We reviewed the characters, theme, and modern day examples. We then went over the crossword puzzle that was given as a review. We had time to work on the rest of the crossword puzzle in preparation for tomorrow's test.
Be careful everyone. They say it's slippery out there.
