A day that will forever etched in my memory. It's hard to believe that so many of the students are too young to remember anything about this day. I shared a few things, but I just wonder how much more I should include.
In English II we reviewed the word public domain and compared it to copyright, fair use, and creative commons. Digital citizenship is so important today. We corrected our Parts of Speech check, knowing there will be an additional quiz tomorrow. Then we tried to finish our discussion of propaganda techniques. Unfortunately we still have two or three to go over. They are to find an example of one of the techniques and share the link on Padlet. That link was given via email.
In American Literature we finished our discussion of Jonathan Edwards. We reviewed his personal narrative as well as his famous "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" sermon. Then we discussed the tremendous impact the Puritans had on our culture: morality, business, education, etc. Tomorrow there will be an open-note quiz over Puritan literature as well as the vocabulary. Hopefully everyone will be prepared for this first major quiz grade.
In Literature 9 we talked a little about 9/11 and I shared the 6-word memorial project sponsored by PBS. This ties so nicely in with our unit. Then we took a check over Black Boy, but it doesn't look like things went so well. We may have to review the contents of the story a little better and try the quiz again.
It's hard to believe it's Thursday. I really think this week went by very quickly.
