I was gone today, but I know Mrs. Meester did a fantastic job in class today. Here is what I think happened in Room 111 today.
In Literature 9 they started with a reading check over "The Last Leaf". Everyone then should have reviewed the SMART board notes over "The Last Leaf" - the setting, characters, figurative language, plot, etc. Hopefully, it was a little discussion and not just copying notes. At the end of the class period, allusion should have been defined. A worksheet was distributed where you are to identify allusions and explain their meanings. Everyone should also look up the words for the story "Sweet Potato Pie."
In English 10, after reading for 10 minutes and taking a few minutes to review, everyone should have taken their vocabulary test over Groups. This is a tough one, but I feel like I warned people enough to the difficulty of this lesson. When done, everyone should have completed a worksheet on commas in titles and addresses.
In American Literature, they had another quiz over courage. For homework, there is a worksheet on antithesis - "It was the Best of Times..." We will begin the next quality - a sense of duty - tomorrow.
I have to admit I enjoyed sleeping in this morning, but it's always so hard to be gone. The mountain of paperwork waiting is always hard to handle. Believe me, I much rather be here!
