What a fun day! I love partner debates in English 10. We get to debate and discuss controversial issues that aren't cut and dried.
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of "Sayonara." We shared our thoughts on her thesis and the use of rhetorical devices. We ended with taking the check over the essay. For tomorrow we're going to watch/listen to JFK's inaugural address "A New Generation of Americans."
In English 10 we had two partner debates. I really enjoyed our conversations about becoming a vegetarian, school uniforms, animal testing, and lowering the drinking age. It's also exciting for kids to have to look at things from a different perspective.
In American Government we discussed President Trump's address to Congress. It seems like he actually did a good job. Then we took a quick check over the Bill of Rights. Everyone was allowed to use their notes, and the check was definitely to pad a few grades. Finally they worked in their pods on the activity "You Be the Judge". We'll finish our discussion on Friday with our unit test on Monday.
In Law it was all about famous Supreme Court cases. We discussed Marbury vs. Madison, McCulloch vs. Maryland, the Dred Scott Decision, and Plessy vs. Ferguson. We'll finish this discussion tomorrow. The Supreme Court can change a culture with a simple decision.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
