The wind is howling, the forecasters are predicting snow, and it's cold. I think out fall has moved over for Old Man Winter.
In English 10 we started our Demonstration Speeches. Just as I predicted several speakers walked in without any preparation at all. I guess I'm enough of a "nerd" that this concept is absolutely foreign to me. As a teacher I provided over two weeks (14 days) of preparation time, yet one speaker walked up and after 33 seconds had no idea what to say next. The rest of the week will be devoted to these speeches, but we will also begin to work on our informative speeches.
In Literature 9 we took the last of our ITED's. It's the optional portion, but it allows us to get a financial break for the costs of the tests. Then we reviewed our notebooks (the table of contents is on the whiteboard). For tomorrow, we're going to finish up "Lady or the Tiger" and begin discussing "The Most Dangerous Game".
In American Government we really focused on the Preamble to the Constitution. We reviewed each section, watched "Schoolhouse Rock," and even re-wrote one for the student handbook. There will be a quiz over the Preamble on Wednesday.
Tonight is Large Group Speech Camp, and I hope a lot of people come and check it out.
