I cancelled play practice last night and it was one of the smartest things I've done in a long time. My mind was so frazzled, and simply having a night at home with Craig, eating a meal I prepared (meat loaf!), was exactly what I needed. I still spent even five hours grading papers, but it was a productive night.
In English 10 we took a vocabulary quiz over the words related to appearances and attitudes. We didn't have much time first hour, but it was my hope to get everyone to select their poem to read for class next week.
In American Literature we studied aphorisms and completed a padlet. Then I presented a sample power point on Benjamin Franklin. For homework, they are to match aphorisms with their meaning. If you were gone, be sure to get the notes from a classmate.
In Literature 9 it was all about persuasion. We discussed the terms anaphora, parallelism (parallel structure), rhetorical question and juxtaposition. These are some deeper concepts, but I think we're getting a good handle on them. It helps as we work with these rhetorical devices for the next three years. If you were gone, be sure to get notes from a classmate!
Happy Friday everyone! Have a great weekend.
