I'm sorry, but if you're planning to come in and visit with me, I'm going home. My throat is almost closed, and I'm fairly sure I'm running a fever.
In Literature 9, we really didn't have literature. Mr. Helkenn came in and worked in with everyone on a career readiness survey. You have to turn in the packet to Mr. Helkenn when you are finished. For Monday, please complete the worksheet that Mrs. Sandbulte distributed at the end of the class period.
In English 10 we finished with our vocabulary presentations. Our test is on Monday. The rest of the class period (about 1/2 an hour) was used to finalize the research and rehearsal of your panel discussions.
In American Literature we finished the two poems by Ralph Waldo Emerson - "Days" and "Concord Hymn". I recorded the lecture and will be sending the link to those of you who missed class. Please watch your email. Be sure your "Civil Disobedience" is annotated. There is a video on peaceful nonviolent protest you would watch for Tuesday. You will need to take notes called Crash Course Peaceful Protest (pg. 52 in your notebook).
In Law, we reviewed the steps leading to a trial. It's more complicated than the television portrays. We then moved onto principals, vs. accomplices vs. accessories. Because of the numerous "what ifs", this took a little longer than I anticipated. We discussed whether a girlfriend, who encourages her boyfriend to commit suicide, is guilty of manslaughter or is an accomplice. We discussed withdrawal and how teenagers think that as long as they didn't participate in the crime, but knew about it, excuses them from culpability. Great discussion. This group keeps me on my toes.
Have a great weekend everyone. I'll see you Tuesday because I will be at All-State with Jillian.
