Back after meeting my newest grandchild - Colton James Knacke. He arrived yesterday at 7:20 AM and is absolutely perfect!
In Literature 9 we started by discussing "The Necklace" and the inability of the main character to be satisfied with your life. It's such a great story to be reading right before the holidays fully kick off. We went over the vocabulary (in first hour) and then took a reading check. After all computers were closed, we took a guided reading and worked on the cause/effect structure of this story. We'll catch fifth hour up with the vocabulary, and then finish "The Necklace" before leaving for Christmas.
In English 10 we had the privilege of watching a Story Corps interview live. Mr. Hoing, bless his heart, came into school and allowed me to interview him for our Story Corps assignment. We discussed his military background, his teaching years, and his family. He was a wonderful choice for the students to watch a sample interview occur. Now they are out to do their interviews this Thanksgiving holiday. I'm so excited about what they are about to do.
In American Literature it was all about rhetorical devices. They basically took a quiz during class. It was frustrating for me, because it seemed like so many were struggling (according to the body language), but I need to see what is being processed and understood. The only way to do that is through a quiz. I'm apprehensive about the grades.
After a day away, it's always a little shaky when I return, but once the day gets going, I realize how much I love my job! Have a great Tuesday everyone!
