I am so looking forward to a weekend where I can get some outside work done. I know it might be too early to plant things, but then again maybe not. Just some sun on my face - that's really what I'm looking forward to.
In Literature 9 we reviewed the events of Chapter 15. It's a chapter with so many little things that we really need to take a moment and discuss everything. We then took our Chapter 16 reading check, and then discussed the people that trooped past the Finch house (Dolphus Raymond, Mr. X. Billups, Mennonites, and Foot-washing Baptists). If Maycomb was a person, what kind of person would it be - male or female? young or old? What personality traits would it have? Finally, we analyzed whether it was really a gala occasion or not. For Monday, read Chapter 17 (don't forget that vocabulary!)
In English 10 we tried to get through scenes 2-3 of Act III. We got close, but still have the "There Thou Art Happy" speech to get through. I took page numbers and reminded everyone to stay caught up on their summaries.
In American Government, we started class with our notes check. We then summarized the legislative process, and I had hoped we would get a little further in our discussion of the 1964 Civil Rights Act than we did, but alack (I think Shakespeare is rubbing off on me), alack we did not. Next week, we'll wind things up with the legislative branch and take our test on Wednesday. Finish the Civil Rights packet, complete those exercises.
In Law, we discussed, by reading an article, lawyer's contingency fees. We then went through the process of a civil case (a flowchart). I had hoped to get through a few sample cases - a case of spilled coffee and the bartender and drunk driver case, but not quite. We'll pick that up on Monday.
I hope everyone has the opportunity to be outside this weekend. Get away from the devices and enjoy the beauty of the earth.
