Now I can tell you about today instead of trying to remember what we did last week. My memory is much clearer for today!
In Literature 9 we discussed the second chapter and Scout's first day of school. She had a day to remember - she was hit with a ruler, yelled at by the teacher for being able to read, and even her own father wouldn't take her to school. That's nothing compared to what will happen in Chapter 3. Everyone took the reading check for Chapter 2 and from what I can tell, they're doing o.k. We reviewed the vocabulary words, and started to discuss the type of narrator Scout is. We also started a worksheet on various perspectives. This is to help us understand the "maxim" that Atticus lives by - "You can tell a lot about another person by walking around in their shoes." Great lesson to live by.
In English 10 we started with playing "Can You Get into my Party". I had some excellent singers, some horribly bad jokes, and even a candle or two to help me light up my party. So creative! Then we read Act I, Scene IV. We read and then watched Mercutio's "Queen Mab's" speech. Poor Romeo! If only he would have learned to listen to his gut. He might have saved himself and others from a lot of heartache. We reviewed the questions from Scene IV. Everyone is to work on the review found on page 55.
We had a little fun in American Government with presidential trivia. I wish I would have thought to put it on Kahoot. Maybe next year. Then we watched a short video from Crash Course about the powers of the President. We'll finish up with the Presidential Powers on Wednesday, and begin reviewing on Monday with our unit test scheduled for next Wednesday.
In Law we finished up our 5-1 notes. We discussed how a business can be held responsible for what an employee does. Also an employee can be held responsible for what their place of employment does. We discussed the different categories of crime. We'll start our criminal packet on Tuesday.
All in all a very productive day with parent teacher conferences tonight and tomorrow. I hope to see you all there!
