A dreary Monday. I believe the weather forecaster said that today was supposed to be in the mid '60's. I don't like to call someone a liar, but he was sadly mistaken. At least it isn't like the blizzard of 25 years ago. Craig and I were living in Texas and very (VERY) glad we were missing that storm.
In Literature 9 we looked at some fantastic street art. We then watched a few movie clips related to Point of View (6th Sense and Vantage Point). We took a few notes on Point of View - first and second person. We then shared our "Expand the Vocabulary" and discovered that several of us stumbled over the same words. We didn't get too far, but then it was onto dialect. Translating English into English isn't as easy as one would think it was. Everyone should work on the Characterization Worksheet (It's attached to the Allusions worksheet).
In English 10 we watched the same street art video, but we also watched a video that I later learned that Mr. Range showed. It was entitled Regrets. I tied it to the poem "George Gray". It's a lesson learned, but also a monologue that will help us set things up for the Mayflower Project. We got to most of our vocabulary presentations. We will finish them up and take our test on Thursday. If you are part of the play, you need to take it during your study hall.
In American Government we watched the same street art video, as well as Omeleo's video on Regrets. The groups shared their Rags to Riches research, and then we took some notes on pure capitalism. We didn't get to our mixed market system, but there's always Wednesday. Current Events for this week is a little different. Using Pro/Con website, they are to research five issues important to them and see how the candidates align. Then each student should summarize them and then comment on two classmates. This week's current events will be worth 16 points (10 for the summary and 3 for each comment).
Have a great week everyone!
