A long day ahead of me! I woke up so early this morning and was unable to return to sleep, so I came to school. With all the meetings, speech practices, oh and by the way, I teach - it's going to be a long day at school.
In Literature 9 we started our small unit on science fiction. We discussed the qualities of science fiction (pg. 995) in our text book. Science fiction writers have to utilize imagery and figurative language effectively to describe something that we don't have prior knowledge of. We then watched the trailer for "Star Wars" and discussed the phenomenon. Then in pairs (first hour) we read the first half of "The Pedestrian" by Ray Bradbury. We will finish this tomorrow.
In English 10 we were still working on our six minute speeches. We will definitely be able to finish our speeches by tomorrow. Each class has only three speakers to go. We will then finish out the semester with our vocabulary.
In American Literature it was all about my appreciation and passion for the American Revolution. We watched a brief History video on the impact of this document, Then we finished our study of the structure and rhetorical devices. Finally I shared a few personal stories related to the signers. We will have our test on Tuesday along with turning in our books.
Have a great Thursday and good luck to the wrestlers!
