I asked my first period class if they knew the significance of today. The year is half over! That's crazy.
In Literature 9 we started with taking our reading probe. We really don't care how long someone takes to read the passage, it's just a data point. Where we do want to see growth is our reading comprehension. Then we took a few notes on Nonfiction - definition and the qualities of an autobiography. We read a few of the building background and historical narrative definition (pg. 283) in preparation for our first reading assignment of this unit. For tomorrow please read "A Brother's Crime."
In English 10 we kind of were scrambling to get both classes caught up, and I almost succeeded. We created our new notebook, reviewed the expectations for the course (participation, extra credit and notebook requirements), and also took our reading probe. we spent a good amount of time (10 minutes) reviewing the Unit Plan and the upcoming assignments for third quarter. We had a little more time in sixth hour to review adverbial phrase, so seventh hour kind of got thrown to the wolves, but I'll do a better job tomorrow.
In American Government I again reviewed the expectations for the course - participation points, extra credit, current events. and notebook. We discussed the responsibilities of both the State and federal governments. Then it was time to discuss the Preamble to the Constitution. As part of American citizenship, I feel that knowing our mission statement is imperative; therefore, everyone will memorize it (for a quiz grade).
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
