Ahhh, Friday. Just like everyone else in the United States, Friday is a glorious sounding word to me! By eighth hour Friday, I'm exhausted, and all I want to do is relax, vegetate, and sleep. Unfortunately, like everyone else in the United States, the weekends are full of all the tasks that have waited all week to get done. Life is never ending.
In Literature 9 today we finished our discussion of irony. I know that this is just the beginning, but it's introduced and now we'll try and get it mastered. Then we finished up "The Sniper". We filled in our Discover Handout with information related to characters, setting, theme, conflict, point of view, tone and mood. Finally we were introduced to the story "The Leap". This story too revolves around life or death decisions, but has a much different tone and mood. Everyone is supposed to read it, and while they are reading the story indicate the important details in a three-column chart.
In English 10 we reviewed subjects/predicates. Then we took a poll (using our phones!) to determine what kind of listeners we are. Many of us had to admit that we didn't not simply listen to our fellow speakers. With that in mind, everyone is going to try and keep track of what kind of listener we are with a listening log. You have until Wednesday to collect data representing two days.
In American Government we really wanted to review Types of Government with Plickers. However, the silly app wouldn't work. Gotta love technology. Then we were off to our groups of developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries. They are working on what are their observations, recommendations, and solution to one major problem. It was so enlightening and fun to listen to their conversations.
All in all a great day and a great week! I can't say it enough...I love my job!
