I've been looking forward to Wednesday since last week! Why? Because it's the first day in over two weeks where I don't have an outside obligation - no meetings, no expectations, nothing. My husband and I hare huge Survivor fans, and tonight is also the finale. I'm looking forward to sitting, grading, and enjoying some time with him.
In Literature 9 I returned all the notebooks. We circled the important pages to help study for tomorrow's unit test. It's important to review the irony, characterization, point of view workshops, along with the worksheets related to allusions. It wouldn't hurt to also review the characters, setting, and plot for the four stories we read ("The Last Leaf," "Sweet Potato Pie," "The Scarlet Ibis," and "Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Tomorrow is our unit test.
In English 10 we again presented informative speeches. More and more speakers are not making time. I think it's because people are not taking the preparation part very seriously. Next semester is all about preparation. All speeches will require research and outline preparation. That doesn't seem to be a strength of this class. That worries me. We will finish up speeches tomorrow, and then take out Big Three test on Friday. We will pick up our vocabulary after we return from Christmas break. That's not the most ideal situation, but heh, we're getting a lot done during this semester. I collected notebooks today.
In American Government, we studied the vision presented in our Great Seal. We reviewed the symbols of eagle, e Pluribus unom, the olive branches, the arrows, the unsupported shield, the Crest of the Golden Glory. We then explored the other side - the pyramids, the eye of Providence, the Latin terms, etc. Your essay question is really about when we lived up to our motto and when we didn't. I did distribute a study guide - it was hastily made, but hey, it's better than nothing. I will also be collecting notebooks on Friday. I think most of you are done with your Constitution test, but there are a few of you who are holdouts. You're running out of time. Test on Friday.
I hope all of you get a chance to relax tonight. I know I'm looking forward to it!
