Another Monday is here. The weeks seem to come around very quickly, but the Friday's seem to take forever to arrive. I had such a wonderful weekend. We celebrated my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary, and it was epic! Now I'm exhausted from all the dancing, food, and visiting. I truly hope that everyone gets to witness that kind of love and loyalty in their lives. I am truly blessed.
In Literature 9 we're on the home stretch of our nonfiction unit. We tried to create an acrostic to remember the six traits used in Persuasion. We reviewed the terms related to persuasion. They can be found on the reverse side of the Persuasive Essay and Speech worksheet (pg. 21). We then introduced Anna Quindelin (Put Down Your Backpack).
In English 10 the room was quiet as everyone was scrambling to finish their literary programs. They've had two work days as well as a weekend, but I have a feeling there will be several "passes" tomorrow. We will also get started on reviewing the vocabulary words related to Groups.
In American Government we played a little game to help us understand that it was difficult for the colonies to think about the whole (nation) when really they wanted to focus on the individual (colony). We played a game entitled "Red or Blue," and several students demonstrated that greed is contributing factor to behavior. We then reviewed the structure of the government under the Articles of Confederation. The students uploaded a presentation on the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. They also wrote three questions that could be answered using their power point.
I hope everyone has a great Monday!
