I feel much better today. Not going to lie, I thought about staying home, but then I thought about all the things I'd have to "make-up," and that made me stumble out of bed pretty quickly.
In Literature 9 we finished up "A Brother's Crime" (reading check in 5th hour) and then moved onto the second inaugural address of Abraham Lincoln. We're going to review the steps we should go through when reading nonfiction. We can't give up; we need to understand that some material is going to be difficult, but there are steps we can follow to improve our reading comprehension.
In English 10 we had fun with our new seating chart (literary characters). Then we reviewed adverbial prepositional phrases and used the strategy of error analysis. It seems we're struggling with finding the modifier, but knowing that will allow us to move forward. Then we quickly reviewed what the substitute covered yesterday with logos. The assignment is picking a product/service and convincing us to part with our money and use or buy that product/service. I'm looking forward to the logos article.
In American Government we also had fun with the seating chart. Then we finished a few notes related to the seven article of the Constitution. We focused on federalism. We had a little fun with a spectrum - the federal government should handle this vs. the State government should handle this responsibility. We mostly agreed, but that's pretty typical. Then we started working on governmental responsibilities and who does handle them. We'll finish that up in class. Remember to memorize that Preamble!
Have a great weekend everyone!
