I wanted so much to make Day 2 as exciting as Day 1. It's still talking about expectations and procedures, but slowly we're getting into our curriculum. All my classes saw my attempt at a video on Explee. It was quite fun to put together. I'm still working on transitions and timing, but I definitely see this as something I'll use as an instructor and maybe in a form of assessment.
English 10: We reviewed classroom expectations. This is something we'll continue to focus on all week. Yesterday students were asked to draw a mountain, and then today it was applied to a personality test. It was kind of fun to see where people landed. Then we discussed universal qualities of all speakers: rate, volume, concise, eye contact, and audience reaction. That led to our discussion and assignment on positive and negative feedback.
American Government: This was the first time I saw seniors, and I have to admit, I can't believe they're seniors already. We distributed books, reviewed some of the procedures: website, Remind 101, make-up work. We then texted or talked to Norma Winkel and Craig Sandbulte about the impact government had on their lives that day. They then are recording their responses on a padlet.
Literature 9: We again reviewed some of the course procedures. I still need to tell 7th hour about participation points, but hopefully I'm getting them all up to speed. We took the syllabuses of six teachers and made a Wordle for it. Some of it was enlightening. Then in 7th Hour we filled out our textbook inventories. This is a tedious activity, but needs to be done. Finally we talked about autobiographies and a joint assignment with Mrs. Negus regarding writing a Photostory Autobiography. We're going to continue to work on it tomorrow.
