I was gone for All-State, but things seemed to move along quite smoothly. Mrs. Sherrill does a great job when she is here!
In Literature 9 we worked on Chapter 8. I always think of this chapter as Jem spilling the beans. So much happens that the check is worth 15 points (16 with extra credit. The vocabulary words for Chapter 8 were reviewed and also the timeline up to this point. Using that timeline, create an illustration of one memorable scene from the book. This is not an art assignment as much as it is looking at the specific details. I expect neatness and effort.
In English 10 everyone was supposed to take a check on their homework (Exercise 3 on Subject/Verb agreement). Since so many were gone on Friday, there are several that need to take the two checks (one from Friday and the other for today). Working in pairs they were to catch up on writing their Act summaries. Finally there was a worksheet on figurative language (similes, metaphors, and personification) to finish.
In American Government, there was a videotaped lecture on the Congressional districts. I reviewed how the districts are formed from Census to Census. I explained the terminology related to "one-man, one-vote". Everyone then received a section review (5-1) questions that will be graded. Don't forget your Current Events!
In Law it was discussion time. They reviewed the criminal packet - crimes against Realty and Government. We will have our quiz on Wednesday over the various crimes.
All-State was awesome and I was so proud of our performers! Good luck those in Track!
