Airdrie United 1 Accies 0

Wednesday, 16th July 2008

Accies were defeated 1-0 by Airdrie United in this pre season friendly at Excelsior Stadium on Wednesday night.

A fairly strong Accies team dominated the game for long spells but they lacked the cutting edge they needed. The best effort came in the second half, when Andy Waterworth (left) headed a Tom Parratt cross against the post. The only goal came in the 22nd minute when the ball was cracked home from close range by one of Airdrie's trialists after an excellent save by on-form goalkeeper Tomas Cerny. There was the usual plethora of second half substitutions but Accies were unable to get back on level terms. However, it was a good workout against an energetic Airdrie side.

Accies lined up; Cerny, Parratt, Gibson, McCarthy (Gow 76), Mensing, McLaughlin (McQueen 51), Trialist (Crawford 58 ), Waterworth (Kirkpatrick 76), Offiong (McLeod 58 ), Neil and Graham. Unused subs Sheridan, Hall
