1875/76

Overview

Season 1875/76 appears to have been very busy in comparison to the previous season but scores for several matches are not recorded so it is possible that these games were not played for one reason or another.

On the 25th September in the match away to Carrington a 0-0 draw was the outcome with only ten men named in the Hamilton side. The 18th November 1875 was the date which the public notices in the Hamilton Advertiser advised that the 3rd Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers would be in opposition to the visiting Academical XI. No note of the outcome. From that it would be fair to say that they were the first side which the Accies met which were members of the Scottish Football League.

Later that month the club recorded its first known win when the Glasgow combine, Burnbank were defeated 7-0 in Hamilton. No further information available of the match. A week before Christmas another victory ensued when Thistle, another Glasgow side were overcome by 6-0. This fixture was the visitors first ever match.

RESULTS

*** Probably played by Hamilton FC not Hamilton Academical FC
