Accies Career

Overview

The Doc had played with Dumfries St Joseph’s, St Roch’s then Celtic. He then was released and joined Alloa Athletic in 1938 and he was the leading scorer in their quest to remain in the First Division. During the war years he had appeared for Clyde, East Fife on loan, Falkirk, Third Lanark on loan, and Partick Thistle on loan.

Another ex-Celt, Manager Jimmy McStay signed him from Falkirk to lend his experience to an Accies side toiling at the wrong end of the league table in 1946. He played on the left wing. At the end of the season he was released.

It was in June 1947 that he then joined Clyde where he spent two seasons. Later he became Trainer to Celtic, and their club doctor. He went on to become doctor to the Scotland International team in Argentina in 1978.

Born in Glasgow on 3rd March 1915.

Debut on 21st December 1946 in a Scottish League match at home to Kilmarnock which was drawn 2-2.
