MACKAY, Angus (1945)

Overview

Glasgow born, on 24th April 1924 Angus came to Hamilton as an inside left from junior combine, Vale of Clyde in 1945.

He spent only a season at Douglas Park before heading to England where he signed for Ipswich Town in May 1946. His stay there was brief in terms of matches played, 5 in 15 months, before he travelled to the south east to play for Exeter City and there he blossomed, spending seven years and accumulating 79 goals in 257 appearances.

The 1955-56 close season brought another move when he joined Millwall and while there he made 17 appearances with a further 4 goals. While in England he played as an outside left.

Debut on 25th August 1945 in a Southern League match at home to Hibernian.
