ALEXANDER, Eric (1977)

Overview

Another player Accies signed from Fairholm. Manager Davie McParland introduced him into the first team near the end of the 1976-77 season; he went on to perform well for the club until May 1982. Most of his matches were played in the No 6 shirt, in fact in the thirty year period from 1977 he and Graham Mitchell wore that particular jersey more often than anyone else. He was a very skilful player and it was surprising that he was not the target for other clubs.

His final two seasons with Accies saw him make few first team outings following a dispute with the club and he was given a free transfer. He returned to his roots and gave good service to Larkhall Thistle. While there, in 1987 he was in the Scottish Junior squad in a match in Dublin. A taxi driver in “Larkie” where he was born on 3rd April 1960.

Debut on 16th April 1977 when he came on as a substitute in a Scottish League match at home to Montrose which was lost 2-0.
