A late leveller by Steven Craig earned Dundee a share of the points they barely deserved at Dens park on Tuesday night. The former Motherwell hitman bundled the ball home in 86 minutes after Accies failed to clear a Grady cross. Accies had taken a deserved lead in 73 minutes when Paddy Keogh latched onto a Brian Carrigan through ball to slide the ball past outrushing Derek Soutar, who was injured and replaced by Scott Murray.

Hamilton dominated a lacklustre first half but were given a scare in 11 minutes when Scott Tunbridge went down on the right hand side of the pitch with a hamstring injury and was replaced shortly after by Mark Gilhaney. In 13 minutes Brian Carrigan sent a speculative overhead effort past the right post from 18 yards.

Dundee were let off the hook in 39 minutes when Brown Ferguson's cross from the right was volleyed by Gilhaney. It appeared to be handled in the box but nothing was given. Brian Carrigan missed virtually an open goal in 42 minutes when dazzling wing play by Paul McMullan took him past several defenders and his cross beat Soutar only for Carrigan to blaze over. Just ahead of half time, John Robertson sent Paul McMullan racing through on goal but Derek Soutar raced off his line well to gather.

Dundee came into the second half more and created early chances. In 51 minutes Grady's corner from the left was knocked back in by Bobby Mann but Gavin Swankie blazed his shot over from just outside the box. Two minutes later, Scott MacKenzie headed clear as MacDonald headed Grady's corner towards goal. Play was scrappy after that with few chances of real note as Accies defended for their lives but Accies could have taken the points with just minutes remaining when Gilhaney's cross from the left was headed just past the right post by Brian Carrigan.
