LAIRD, Joseph (1917)

Overview

A centre forward who came to Douglas Park like so many others over the years, from Burnbank Athletic, in 1917. The previous year he was the leading scorer in the Lanarkshire Junior League. He later became a well known Juvenile referee in the 1930’s.

Resident of Bellshill where he died in 1935 at the age of 39 leaving a wife and six children.

Debut on 15th August 1917 in a home Scottish League fixture against Hibernian.
