Accies Career

Overview

Another of the junior fraternity to play a single game for Accies. Alex was a clever right back who had represented Lanarkshire Juniors against Leinster while a player with Royal Albert, the club he was attached to when he played for Accies against Kilmarnock at home in a match where four goals were shared in 1952, a promotion winning year.

Press speculation at the time gave the impression that he would join the club, as they had sought his services on previous occasions, plus the fact that his uncle, Jock Davie, was a member of the Accies Scottish Cup final side in 1911 against Celtic. Alex himself, also played for Newton Boys Guild and Thorniewood United before moving to Raploch Park, the Albert's original home. Morton later signed him, he wasn't at the tail of the bank long before he was on his way back to the Larkhall club again.

Debut on 22nd November 1952 in a Scottish League match at home to Kilmarnock in a 2-2 draw.
