GARDINER, James (1898)

Overview

A former Motherwell goalkeeper signed in an emergency in 1898 when Tommy Henderson was unfit.

With East Benhar Heatherbell as a junior. While there he turned out for the Lanarkshire Junior Alliance League against the Lanarkshire Junior League at Wishaw in May 1894. The previous season he had also appeared for the Alliance XI, on this occasion against Cambuslang and District Junior League. Joined Motherwell in 1897 from Hearts A. and showed up well in their pre-season trial.

Debut Away to Linthouse on 12th November 1898 in a 3-2 loss.
