BAXTER, Tom (1928)

Overview

Tom was a left half and joined up at Douglas Park from St Andrews United in 1928. He looked less than match fit on his debut. Born in Dunfermline.

In January 1930 he went on loan to St Cuthbert Wanderers from Kirkcudbright and turned out for them in a Scottish Cup tie versus St Mirren, the following month the move was made permanent. There he played at centre half. Tom had also appeared with them in the Final of the Scottish Qualifying Cup in December 1929 at Palmerston Park, Dumfries when Bathgate beat them 1-0. The following season he was in the successful side from Kirkcudbright which won the Potts Cup.

In 1938 he was still turning out as a veteran in charity matches in Fife. He was 5’9” and 11sts 12lbs when at Douglas Park.

Debut on 8th September 1928 in a Scottish League match at home to Clyde.
