McILWRAITH, Stewart (1923)

Overview

He had appeared at junior level with Bellshill Athletic. Stewart was an amateur with Third Lanark where he played on the left wing. As Accies struggled early in the 1923-24 season, he was one of three new signings in September. That was his only year at Douglas Park, which was surprising as he had been a success while there.

One piece of silverware came his way while with the club as he played in the victorious side which beat Royal Albert in the Lanarkshire Cup Final in 1924.

On being freed by Accies in 1924 he went on tour to Ireland with former club, Third Lanark, and it was thought that he may rejoin the Cathkin side, though that never happened.

Debut on 15th September 1923 away to Kilmarnock in the Scottish League.
