FOWLER, Norman (1943)

Overview

Born at Stockton on 3rd September 1919, Norman was capped as a schoolboy for England as a full back. He was a registered player with Middlesboro’ when he turned out for Accies in 1943 at inside right. He also appeared with Leeds United and Bradford City during the war. A Physical Training Instructor in his war service.

The war over, he transferred to Hull City where he remained for three years appearing 52 times for them before upping anchor and moving on again, this time, his final move, was to Gateshead and there he played in 64 matches before calling it a day in 1951 as far as the top Leagues were concerned, however he had a spell with Scarborough at non League level. He was later a Director of Stockton FC. At the age of 71 he died in 1991.

Debut on 13th November 1943 in a Southern League match at home to Morton.
