Accies 0, Partick Thistle 1

Saturday, 27 December 1997

Accies today lost their fifth game in a row to a Partick side who played very little football but who were very hard working and well organised.

Accies were the better team in the first half and were unlucky to see several shots from Paul Ritchie and Jim Sherry narrowly miss the goal. However, after about 22 minutes, Partick took the lead when Alan Lawrence, who always scores against us, capitalised on a defensive mix up to shoot high past Myles Hogarth, who was again standing in for Allan Ferguson.

The second half was remarkably incident-free, and things just didn't work out for Accies. It seems that confidence is now at an all time low. You could tell by the way the players were always looking to hit the ball square or backwards, rather than take responsibility for the crucial forward pass.

Pass marks for effort go to David Craig, Jim Sherry and Steve McCormick. Some of the others are fortunate that we have a small squad or they would surely be dropped.

A brief report today, as I'm so fed up I just want a beer!

Accies : Hogarth, Renicks, Hillcoat, Thomson, McEntegart, Craig, McQuade, Sherry, Ritchie (Davidson), McCormick and Geraghty (McFarlane).
