FORREST, Jack (1906)

Overview

Jack endeared himself to all Accies fans in 1906 when on his debut in front of a crowd of 6,000 he scored two of the three goals which eliminated old rivals, Motherwell, from the Scottish Cup that year, probably all the more sweet for him as he had been at Fir Park earlier in his career, going there from Carluke Milton Rovers.

A subtle inside forward who added guile to a clever Accies forward line of the day. He joined up at Douglas Park from Bradford City. Played at centre forward when Accies defeated Airdrieonians in the Lanarkshire Cup Final in April 1906, in which he scored the first of Hamilton’s two goals.

Signed for Motherwell as a senior and left there in season 1902-03 for Stoke City, for a fee off £140. He was paid £10 and a wage of £3.50p per week. There he spent only a short spell before moving to Yorkshire and there he stayed for four seasons with 33 League games and 18 goals to his credit. He was a Braidwood man.

Debut on 27th January 1906 in a Scottish Cup tie away to Motherwell in which he scored twice in a 3-2 win.
